Mauro Bordignon was born in Bassano del Grappa, Italy, and began diving in 1997. He became a professional diver in 2002 and has lived in Mexico since 2007, where he dedicates his time to cave exploration and teaching cave diving.

Mauro spends most of the year in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico, located between Playa del Carmen and Tulum—an ideal base for accessing some of the world’s top cave diving sites. While he primarily teaches cave diving courses there, he also travels frequently to Florida and Europe’s top cave destinations for both teaching and exploration.

Throughout his career, Mauro has explored caves in Mexico, Italy, Bosnia, Croatia, Madagascar, and mines in Arizona. After many years with the Yucatan as the center of his explorations, Mauro shifted his focus to deep cave exploration in Central and Northern Mexico. Some of his current exploration projects include Xunaan Ha, Río Uluapan, San Rafael, and Santa Clara in Mexico, as well as Acqua Nera in Italy.
